Eco-Tourism at Jungleciti, Kaziranga
Our initiatives, partnerships, and why every tourism business in Kaziranga should go eco-first.
Last Revised: 19-11-2025
Eco-tourism in Kaziranga is not a branding choice — it is essential to safeguard one of the world’s most celebrated riverine grassland ecosystems and the wildlife that depends on it. Jungleciti’s program focuses on three pillars: Conserve Nature, Benefit Communities, and Deliver Low-impact Hospitality.
Jungleciti Eco-Tourism Initiatives
- Conservation partnerships: Year-round collaboration with the Assam Forest Department, Forest Guards, and NGOs for flood-time rescue logistics, early-warning support, and anti-poaching surveillance (see our Wildlife Conservation page).
- Low-impact operations: LED lighting, efficient HVAC, smart controls, rainwater harvesting, low-flow fixtures, leak audits, and elimination of most single-use plastics.
- Waste & circularity: Segregation at source, composting organics, partnerships with recyclers, and responsible handling of hazardous waste as per local norms.
- Sustainable sourcing: Local & seasonal menus, regional artisans for amenities and decor, certified paper/wood, biodegradable or refillable guest supplies.
- Community livelihoods: Fair-pay guiding, homestay & craft referrals, local transport cooperatives, and skills workshops for youth and women’s groups.
- Visitor education: Briefings on wildlife etiquette, “leave-no-trace” practices, and climate resilience in the Brahmaputra floodplain.
- Nature-positive landscape: Native tree planting, riparian buffers, pollinator gardens, and erosion control in our grounds.
- Transparency & goals: Annual intensity metrics (energy, water, waste per guest-night) with year-on-year reduction targets published on our site/app.
Why Eco-Tourism for All in Kaziranga
- Protects the asset: Wildlife and intact habitat are the very reason visitors come; eco-tourism safeguards long-term destination value.
- Reduces cumulative impact: In a compact, flood-prone landscape, every lodge’s footprint matters — efficiency and waste controls add up.
- Strengthens communities: Shared benefits (jobs, markets for local goods, training) build support for conservation and reduce conflict.
- Improves guest experience: Cleaner air & water, quieter nights, authentic culture, and responsible wildlife viewing are simply better.
- Resilience to climate risk: Water stewardship, flood planning, and heat-smart design cut business interruptions and costs.
- Meets traveler expectations: Eco-conscious travelers increasingly choose operators with credible practices and reporting.
What Every Establishment Can Do Now
- Adopt a no-litter, no-plastic policy; install segregation bins; compost organics.
- Audit energy & water; switch to LEDs; add low-flow fixtures; fix leaks; set AC set-points (24–26°C).
- Source local & seasonal; cut food miles; support farmer co-ops and craft clusters.
- Train staff on wildlife etiquette and guest briefings (speed limits, quiet zones, no feeding).
- Publish simple KPIs (kWh/guest-night, L/guest-night, kg waste/guest-night) and update annually.
Guest Guidelines (Quick Tips)
- Carry a reusable bottle; avoid single-use plastics.
- Keep noise low on trails and during safaris; never feed wildlife.
- Respect buffer zones and stay on marked paths.
- Switch off AC/lights when out; reuse linens/towels.
- Buy local crafts and seasonal produce to support communities.
Our Roadmap
- Rooftop solar deployment and green power procurement where feasible.
- Expanded rainwater capture and greywater reuse as per regulations.
- Third-party audits, staff certifications, and community conservation projects.
